Thank you so much for the beautiful bench cushions you made last month. The whole experience was so smooth, from the initial consultation and fabric recommendations, to the speedy turnaround in time for a weekend of hosting. Looking forward to the next project!
The name ‘Miljö’ meaning ‘environment’ reflects my love of creating the perfect home environment with treasured one off pieces.
INTRODUCTION
Launched in May 2018 and originating from my passion in restoring furniture for my own home, Miljö is an upholstery and furniture restoration business based in Twickenham offering services in both traditional and modern upholstery as well as furniture restoration.
ABOUT
With a lifelong passion for vintage furniture, interiors and fabrics, I finally followed my passion by embarking on a furniture restoration evening course before taking the plunge and formally re-training as an upholsterer. After completing my training, I launched Miljo By Jo Frisken in 2018.
With a strong commitment to sustainability, and reaffirming my belief in reusing and recycling in a time where we have such a throw away culture, my aim is to transform your chosen piece into something beautiful and unique whilst also contributing to a greener planet!
PROCESS
Whether you are looking to give a family heirloom a new lease of life or simply looking to create a treasured one off piece for your home, I will work closely with you through each stage of the process.
With a passion for giving new life to old furniture and a strong focus on reusing materials whenever possible, I will guide you through the various restoration and upholstery options; from a fabric recover to a fully traditional reupholster. I am also able to help you with sourcing the right fabric for you to ensure that the final piece is perfect.

TESTIMONIALS
Catherine
Jo reupholstered a set of mid century dining room chairs for me. She is so knowledgable in terms of helping us pick the perfect fabric that complimented the chairs perfectly. She’s got a brilliant eye and truly talented. The chairs no so stunning and we couldn’t be more pleased.
Jemma
Traditional oak high back dining chair, purchased from a Charity shop. Thrilled to have been recommended to Jo, a local upholsterer, who listened to my story. I didn’t know what style of chair it was and so I referred to it as a Carver. Since thinking about it, it’s more of a Vintage Period piece. It was in an awful condition, but Jo set to work to transform it into a magnificent piece. It is now my pride and joy standing in my front room. I highly recommend Jo for attention to detail, care and consideration.

I knew Jo was the right person to trust with this reupholstering project from the very beginning. She totally understood what I wanted to achieve and how I wanted the chair to look using very special, and irreplaceable fabric, as I was using curtains my grandmother had made. Jo was thorough in her questions, sympathetic to the chair and the fabric and the outcome was way better than I had imagined. I love my chair and delighted it was Jo who made the transformation happen. She’s fantastic and passionate about her craft and I’ve already sent her another chair to be transformed in Jo’s very capable hands.
